My essential Bridal Makeup Kit 2023 - Primers

Updated: Nov 11, 2023

When I first became a bridal Makeup Artist, I would look for posts like this all the time on the internet, high quality makeup is very expensive when you have to cater for different skin types and tones. I have been a bridal makeup artist for nearly 10 years so I want to help with my personal favourites.

Primers.

I believe in Primers! I believe they make a difference for longevity of makeup especially for oily skin types.

After cleaning and moisturising I then add primer - there isn't much to it, I massage it into the skin with my hands.

Here are my favourites:

Illamasqua Matte Veil Primer - This is a lightweight primer which absorbs excess oil and mattify skin. I recommend this for the more oily but combination skin as it also maintaining moisture levels to prevent dryness. Improves make-up longevity with less need for a powder top up, provides oil control throughout the day giving a soft but shine-free finish.

YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer - This is a gel consistency with visibly even skin tone and minimises the appearance of fine lines and pores, it gives a really smooth look and feels beautiful on the skin. I makes the brides completion look beautifully radiant and even. I recommend this for a more mature skin.

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base - Brilliant for normal - more dry skin types.

Full of hyaluronic acid, shea butter and a blend of vitamins. Keeps skin beautifully hydrated and soft. It also smells and feels beautiful. I get a lot of comment on this cream, I will also use this as a moisturiser before I primer.
